Near North Montessori School was founded in 1963 as an alternative to traditional education. We are a fully accredited, non-profit institution that serves over 500 students in the Chicago area from primary to the junior high level.
We recognize that children progress at their own rate and our programs are designed to accommodate all students. Near North classes are based on multiple-year age groupings, e.g. 3-6 year olds, 6-9 year olds. While our classrooms and materials are highly structured, learning is not. Students progress at their own pace in a non-competitive atmosphere. Our skilled Montessori-trained teachers guide their students through a balance of individual instruction, small group lessons and unstructured time. In this way your child learns self-discipline and initiative as well as competence.
