The Wedding of Wayne Steinman and Sal Iacullo

On October 7, 2000, Sal and I had a wedding and Civil Union in Vermont. Since our first commitment, without a ceremony in August 1972, we had a few special occasions in which we had recommitted to each other privately. However, we never had a commitment ceremony. When it became legal to enter a Civil Union in Vermont, we decided we wanted the wedding we never had. More importantly, it gave us legal recognition, albeit in Vermont only. We sent out announcements and arranged our Vermont wedding. We held it at A Stonewall Inn. The setting and atmosphere was wonderful. Sal and I wrote the ceremony. Our immediate family was invited. My youngest sister and niece attended. and we were also joined by a cousin and four close friends. We wanted it small, intimate, and meaningful for us. Hope, our daughter, was our Maid of Honor. Our Best Man was the son of our close friends, and a COLAGE member. After a very moving ceremony, we took everyone to the Inn at Weston for a celebratory dinner. Fabulous food, fabulous company – it was a fabulous conclusion to our wedding and Civil Union.
