The Wedding of Sharon Delvisco and Tracy Cormier

Sharon: We had an interesting ceremony. I purchased a book entitled The Circle is Sacred prior to the ceremony. I developed the content of the ceremony from the information in the book about Native American traditions. Some friends Karen and Susan called the four corners to begin the ceremony and Ted performed the traditional part of the ceremony. Several of our friends and family members participated as a part of “our circle” and the bonding ritual. All our guests (75 approximately) participated in the ceremony by cleansing their hands in rose water. There was drumming and my friends Jeannie and Terry sang songs for the ceremony. It was wonderful to have all our friends and family members present and supporting our public commitment to each other. The ceremony took place in the backyard of the house where we lived. It had a raised deck and wonderful landscaping. It was a beautiful January afternoon (anniversary of our first date). The reception was at our house and we served coffee and desert because of how we met. Tracy invited my friend Wendy to her house for coffee and desert. Wendy and I were supposed to go work out that night and she said we had to stop at this party, just for a few minutes. The rest is history.

Tracy: We did talk about children very early in our relationship. We had both been through some other relationships and laid the cards on the table early. We both knew we wanted children to be a part of our lives. I planned the honeymoon as a big secret. A horse drawn carriage pulled up to the house and whisked us away to our weekend in the French Quarter. Five years after their wedding, Sharon, Tracy, and their friend Ted Stewart (pictured above), all became parents to a son named Alex.
