Discover One Caring Community at Columbia Academy

When you choose to enroll your child at Columbia Academy, you are actually enrolling your entire family in a caring community whose shared mission is to best prepare your child for success in the real world.

As a private school system in Columbia, Maryland, Columbia Academy offer students a unique education experience focused on the philosophy of individualism in a diverse, welcoming environment. Age-appropriate programs and curriculum certified by the Maryland State Department of Education are combined with hands-on teaching strategies to spark curiosity, encourage imagination, and instill a love of learning at an early age.

Columbia Academy president and owner Patti Kincaid believes that a positive key differentiator of the school system is its exceptional roster of results-oriented teachers. “The teachers here are overflowing with enthusiasm and genuinely care about their students as if they were their own,” Kincaid explains. “In many cases, our teachers remain with the same students as they progress through different programs and even grade levels. This helps foster a deep understanding of a student’s strengths and weaknesses, as well as likes and dislikes, so we can provide a truly customized learning plan to keep students engaged, happy, and having fun,” adds Kincaid.

One caring community.
The nationally recognized private school community is comprised of four Columbia Academy Preschools at Maple Lawn, Kendall Ridge, Kings Contrivance, and Thunder Hill; as well as the Columbia Academy Elementary and Middle School. Its caring and passionate teachers nurture students from 6 weeks in age through 8th grade, with seamless transitions in between.
One individualized approach.
One of Columbia Academy’s greatest advantages is its ability to provide individualized attention and instruction to students due to small class sizes. Columbia Academy’s teacher-to-student ratios are among the lowest in the nation. This unique level of intimacy benefits all types of students, allowing teachers the flexibility to add greater challenge or provide remedial support depending on each student’s unique needs.

Columbia Academy’s close-knit student population is blended from a variety of races, cultures, family dynamics, religions, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Students who attend Columbia Academy not only experience diversity, but embrace it. Each school makes it a point to teach kids that while we are all different, we are all equal and deserving of respect.
