Product Description

In celebration of African American History Month in February we feature several family stories. First, our cover family is actor Benjamin Patterson with his husband Mike Moody and their son Zachary, age two. You may have seen Patterson’s handsome face on network series Noah’s Arc, Grey’s Anatomy, and Greenleaf. A man of many talents besides acting, now Patterson can add parenting to the list. Also, meet Mathew Graham-Jackson, a fashion designer, and his husband Ricardo Jackson, the Minority HIV/AIDS, PrEP and Statewide Black Men’s Sexual Health Coordinator for the Florida Department of Health. They met in New York City and now live in West Palm Beach. This cute couple is Daddy one and Daddy two to their foster son MJ. Finally, meet Paul Perry a highly intelligent young man who was raised by a White gay male couple. In this article by Michael P Coleman, Perry says his parents weren't able to teach him about being a Black man in America, but he appreciates they didn't teach him about "hyper-masculine crap."

Gay Parent Magazine will reach its milestone 20th anniversary issue at the end of 2018. To kick off our anniversary we're revisiting some of the families that we've featured in our previous issues with a series of family update articles. In this issue, Henry Amador-Batten talks about how his family has grown since we last featured them in 2014, and of the terrible experience of being wronged by an airline.

Lastly, learn about the Queer/Trans Family Group in Brooklyn, formed last year by midwives. Editorial contributors to this issue include Deadra Albrecht-Frasch, Michael P Coleman, and Gary Hurtubise.
